The Burden of Truth in a World of Idiocy

They say when you don’t defend yourself you’re guilty. When you keep silent you’re guilty. But what if you never cared to prove your innocence? What if what others think of you doesn’t matter to you? What if you think people are just stupid and make all the wrong stupid conclusions anyway?

But of course, if others go and spread their stories about you, then they’ll be believed, for you’re not telling your story. But again, what if you don’t care? Then will you just be guilty? Isn’t it innocent until proven guilty and not slandered guilty? Again, evidence that people are just idiots and they’ll believe the loudest voice, the crocodile tears.

So let them be in their false lives. For if you don’t care, why would you put in any effort to influence their dumb little heads? The line between evil and stupidity is thin if even existent. The idiot runs over someone in their stupidity, and the evil one in their evilness. The end result is the same. Therefore, being an idiot or evil is just as dangerous. We live in a world of idiots and therefore a world of evil.

There’s this idea that the good have to defend themselves. Fight the darkness, fight the lies, but again, what if you don’t care? Why should you care? What difference does it truly make? What if you tried for so long and still you’re found guilty by the court of opinion? Surely, after being bitten by strays multiple times, you’ll no longer wonder why strays bite. So why wonder why idiots will believe anything about anyone without question?

The world is tough, but it’s only difficult because we share it with people. People who like donkeys don’t look far ahead and don’t think about what they see. Why would you justify your actions to a donkey?

Perhaps those who care about you will ask you about the truth. But no, they won’t, for more than the truth sets you free, it highly inconveniences you. For then you can no longer hide among the idiots. For then you can no longer be agreeable. For then you’re a traitor, a bad apple.

So why would you have patience for such events and conversations? Let the idiots think what they want. And don’t lie to yourself that the idiots are over the mountain. Many share your blood. Many know you lifelong. Many have PhDs and other degrees that just exaggerate their idiocy.

Perhaps it is indeed adequate if your creator knows the truth. For the sheep will eat the bugs with the grass and tell themselves they’re herbivorous. Just as the mass idiots will tell you they’re good and honest and judge not.

To be grander than life comes with the consequence of the total lack of desire to defend yourself.
